Location: Kalonga, UG

Budget: $6500.00

Goal: To provide 100 filters to Kalonga Uganda on World Water Day

How You Can Help:

March 22nd 2014 is World Water Day, a day people across the globe join together to raise awareness and endeavor to solve the world water crisis. This year on World Water Day, Impact Nations has a team of 27 working in Kalonga Uganda treating waterborne disease in a free medical clinic and working to solve the endemic by distributing Sawyer Water Filters. We're asking you to get involved with the team in ending waterborne disease in the town of Kalonga. Over the next 6 months we need to provide 550 more filters for Kalonga.  On World Water Day, our goal is to raise the funds for 100 of them.

  • 780 million people do not have access to clean drinking water. That is equivalent to the entire population of the United States, Canada, Australia, Italy, France, and Mexico…  combined.
  • Half of the hospital beds in the world are occupied by patients suffering from diseases associated with lack of access to safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene.
  • 3.4 million People die each year from water related disease. This is the equivalent to the population of Los Angeles… every year.
  • Every 21 seconds a child dies from diarrhea.
  • 200 million work hours are spent every day by women collecting water. This is time not spent working at an income-generating job, caring for family members, or attending school.
